Dan R. Talley - original drawing

This project was instigated by artist Dan R. Talley who distributed all of his physical artworks to anyone who wanted them with the provision that, after receiving them, would respond in whatever form, having lived with the works in their home. I produced the video and sound using the drawing in the genre of a non-traditional musical score. The single notes coincide with the onset of each line that was generated by a sharpened pencil and drawn in a spiral. All sounds were produced strumming, plucking, or bowing guitars and bass instruments. The title of Dan's original drawing is "Trace (Spiral, Neutral, Re-sharpen Horizontally Vertically)", pencil on paper, 2002.
